Following Jesus

God created us to live in relationship with Him, but each of us has turned our back on Him through active rebellion or passive indifference. The Bible calls this sin—we have fallen short of God’s holy standard and lived for ourselves rather than trusting the King.

Following Jesus begins with honesty about that reality and trust in what He has done for us. Jesus lived in perfect obedience, died in our place, and rose again so we could be forgiven and restored to God. When we turn from self-rule and trust him, He welcomes us, forgives us, and begins to lead us as our gracious king.

Praying the words below does not save you—Jesus does. This prayer simply expresses trust in Him:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I have fallen short and lived life my own way.
Thank You for living in perfect obedience and dying in my place.
I turn from self-rule and place my trust in You alone.
Forgive me, restore me, and lead me as my King.
I want to follow You.
Amen.
