NV Kids VBS Leader Note: Monday - Anchored in Truth

Good morning, wonderful Breaker Rock Beach VBS Leaders!

Welcome to our first official day of VBS! Today, we're kicking off our adventure by exploring God's Rock-Solid Truth: God Is Our Creator. Our foundational Bible verse for today is Romans 1:20, which reminds us that God's invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen through what He has made. Today we will also teach the kids to listen to God’s voice and not the lies they hear from the world. We do that by reading the Bible, praying and spending time connecting about God with other people who believe in Him!

Reminder: Donn Nelson: (509-998-5144) is your primary contact for questions and support throughout the week, and the information desk is available as well!

VBS Fundraiser and Offering: This year, our offerings will directly help our missionaries as they prepare to travel to Guatemala this summer to serve children and families there in the name of Jesus – sharing His love and good news!

Leader Devotional:

Begin your day by reflecting on the wonder of God's creation. Take a moment to step outside and appreciate the beauty around you – the sky, the trees, the air we breathe. This is a tangible reminder of God's power and creativity. As we teach the children about God as Creator, let's approach it with awe and excitement.

Scripture for Reflection: Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."

Kid's Daily Bible Lesson Scripture: Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-7

Thought for the Day: As we look at God's creation today, let's remember that if God is powerful enough to create everything, He is certainly powerful enough to guide us and our VBS kids. He truly is the ultimate authority on truth. We need to tune into His voice and tune out the lies of the world.

Apologetic Connection: The very existence of clear truth, as revealed in the Bible, stands in contrast to the idea that "my truth" is all that matters. If truth is subjective, then nothing can truly be right or wrong, good or evil. But the Bible, beginning in Genesis, establishes an objective moral and factual reality given by a Creator God. This provides a solid foundation for understanding the world, and it shows why God's Word is essential for distinguishing reality from deception. Furthermore, the fact that people across all cultures universally believe in fundamental right and wrong (like "murder is truly bad" or "stealing is not ok") isn't just a human invention. If it were, morality would be changeable and subjective, like fashion trends. But since we recognize moral truths that apply to everyone, we can conclude there must be a higher source for them – a perfectly good God.

Prayer Prompt: Ask God to give you a sense of wonder as you share about Him and His creation with the kids. Pray that they would see His power and glory in the world around them and that their hearts would be open to His truth.

Leader Encouragement: Before you step into the VBS excitement, take a moment to be in God's Word and prayer yourself.

Just like on an airplane, we need to put on our own oxygen mask first. When we are cared for and filled by God, we have so much more to pour out and give to the kids.

As we connect with the kids today and throughout the week, let's focus on Christ and asking Him to help us show love and kindness to all. Look for opportunities to show patience and use creative solutions to help kids listen and learn. Remember to utilize the leader help sheets we provided—they're full of great tips! Take time to ask kids about their lives to get to know them and show them you care. Using their name in a positive way can make a huge difference!

We are praying for you!

In Jesus’s love,

Donna 😊
