NV Kids VBS Leader Note: Tuesday - The Trustworthiness of Scripture
Good morning, wonderful Breaker Rock Beach VBS Leaders!
Today, we're building on our foundation by learning about God's Rock-Solid Truth: The Bible Is the Word of God. Our key Bible verse for today is 2 Timothy 3:16, reminding us that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
Yesterday, we learned that truth comes from God. Today, we dive deeper into God's plan. In a world constantly telling us to "do what makes you happy" or "follow your heart," we see in Daniel's story, in Daniel 1:8-21, that God's plan is best, even when it doesn't seem like the easy or popular choice. Daniel stood firm amidst cultural pressure because he knew God's way was the right one. We get to show kids that true happiness and fulfillment come from aligning our lives with the wise and loving plan of God, not found in our desires that catch our eye or in what feels good in the moment. God’s peace can be with us no matter how hard or easy a situation can be. God’s wonderful plan to help us be made right with him from our terrible sin problem that keeps us away from God is He sent His son Jesus to pay our debt we owe to God and we can be forgiven when we tell Jesus sorry for our sins and accept His free gift of forgiveness and salvation – being saved from the punishment we deserve.
Leader Devotional:
Scripture for Reflection: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Kid's Daily Bible Lesson Scripture: Daniel 1:8-21
Thought for the Day: The Bible is God's perfect guidebook. Just as we trust a map to get us where we're going, we can fully trust God's Word to lead us in His best plan.
Apologetic Connection: Many people question the Bible's reliability. However, the Bible is unique among ancient texts for its historical accuracy, internal consistency (written by many authors over thousands of years, yet telling one cohesive story that is archaeologically verifiable), and fulfilled prophecies. These are powerful evidences that it is not merely a human book, but truly God's inspired Word. This trustworthiness then supports the claim that God's plan, as revealed in this reliable Word, must be the best. This points to God's Omniscience and Benevolence: If God is all-knowing (omniscient) and all-good (benevolent), then His plan must be the best. His wisdom far surpasses ours. When faced with the world's enticing "follow your heart" mantra, we can confidently assert that the heart can be deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9), and God's perfect character ensures His plans are always for our ultimate good and His glory. This provides a strong reason to trust Him, even when we don't understand.
Prayer Prompt: Pray that we leaders would model a deep trust in God's plan, even in our own lives. Pray for the kids to embrace their need to resist the world's "do what makes you happy" message and instead God would give them a desire for His perfect plan for them.
Leader Encouragement: Last night was wonderful! Remember to slow down and pray throughout each portion of the night. This is a treasured time for the kids to learn the word of God and for we leaders to get to grow in our faith as we seek Jesus and serve Him. You are doing great! Keep up the great work!
We are praying for you!
In Jesus’s love,
Donna 😊
