NV Kids VBS Leader Note: Wednesday - God's Goodness and Character

Good morning, wonderful Breaker Rock Beach VBS Leaders!

Our focus today is God's Rock-Solid Truth: God Is Good. Our guiding Bible verse is Psalm 100:5, "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Leader Devotional:

Reflect on the consistent goodness of God in your own life. Think about times when you experienced His love, faithfulness, and provision, even in challenging circumstances. His ultimate goodness, however, is seen in how He provided for our greatest need – our need for a Savior. Sharing these personal reflections (if appropriate and concise) with the kids can make God's goodness and His amazing rescue plan more relatable.

Scripture for Reflection (for leaders): Jeremiah 33:11 "Give thanks to the Lord of Hosts, for the Lord is good, for His mercy endures forever!"

Kid's Daily Bible Lesson Scripture: Mark 10:17-27 (The Rich Young Ruler)

Thought for the Day: Even when we face difficulties or don't understand God's ways, His unchanging character as a good and loving God is our anchor. We can trust His heart, even when we can’t always understand Him and what He is doing. This is profoundly true as we see in the story of the rich young ruler: God's goodness means He sets a perfect standard, and in His great love, He provided the only way for us to meet that standard through Jesus, because we could never do it on our own.

Apologetic Connection: In a world filled with suffering and pain, it's common for people to question God's goodness. However, God's goodness isn't just about what we experience; it's about His unchanging character. He is perfectly holy, just, and loving. This unwavering goodness is a core attribute of the God we proclaim. And because He is good, He couldn't ignore our sin, which causes suffering and separates us from Him. His supreme goodness is most evident in the Gospel: rather than leaving us lost, He demonstrated His love by sending His Son, Jesus, who lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and rose again. This ultimate act of goodness offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe in Him. Even when we don't understand all of His ways, we can trust in His good nature, which is consistently revealed throughout the Bible, most perfectly in the cross of Christ.

Prayer Prompt: Pray for the kids to grasp the depth of God's goodness and love, especially as they learn that everyone needs Jesus (which is Day 3's core truth). Pray that they would understand their own need for a Savior and develop a trust in God's character and His incredible plan of salvation through Jesus that sustains them through all circumstances.

Breaker Rock Beach Photos:  Please capture all the VBS fun this week with photos! We'll be using them to create a slideshow video to share with parents and the church on Sunday morning. Just upload your photos directly to our shared album (https://photos.app.goo.gl/yZR4fozcY3hqxcVr8) rather than posting on social media or sharing elsewhere. This helps us stay mindful of our families' privacy preferences while still celebrating all the amazing memories we're making together.

Children's Ministry Opportunities:   Loving the life-changing excitement you're experiencing with kids this week? Don't let it end with VBS! Serve Jesus and families and join our children's ministry team throughout the year! Want more info? https://nbcspokane.churchcenter.com/people/forms/955118

Leader Encouragement: As Donn shares with you today in your leader time about how to share the gospel with kids, pray and ask Jesus to help you as you get opportunities to share the gospel with kids. Keep shining God's light and sharing His good news!

We are praying for you!

In Jesus’s love,

Donna 😊
